Background overview
Fort Lauderdale United FC is part of the continued rise of professional and community soccer in the United States. The club plays at a 4,000-seat stadium located at Nova Southeastern University, which has recently undergone a $7 million transformation to create a modern, cutting-edge home for both its men’s and women’s teams. As part of these venue improvements, the club set out to replace its ageing scoreboard and introduce a contemporary LED platform to enhance presentation, elevate partner visibility and strengthen fan engagement.
Stadium Structures appointed EcoVista to deliver the LED scope, recognising the company’s specialist engineering capability and extensive experience integrating LED systems into complex stadium environments. The project included a new video scoreboard and a full-video pitch-perimeter system.
Clients challenge
The project centred on a complete retrofit rather than new construction. EcoVista was tasked with removing the stadium’s old static scoreboard and engineering a solution that would enable a modern LED display to be mounted onto the existing steel frame. This required a detailed structural assessment, reinforcement of the legacy structure and a precisely engineered interface for the new LED system. EcoVista collaborated with a US-based structural engineer to validate load paths, specify strengthening works and ensure compliance with regional building codes.
The installation of 187 metres of full-video pitch-perimeter LED added further complexity, requiring careful sequencing with Stadium Structures and local contractors. Outdoor conditions compounded the challenge: high heat and humidity were constant considerations, and a significant storm system passed through during the programme, prompting temporary schedule changes and enhanced safety measures.
With the season’s first home fixture approaching, the delivery window remained extremely tight, demanding disciplined coordination and adaptability from the entire project team.

Our solution
EcoVista delivered a complete turnkey integration built around Absen LED technology.
The new video scoreboard utilised Absen A1021 10 mm outdoor LED, configured as a 5.1m x 6.4m display. EcoVista managed the removal of the legacy scoreboard, directed all structural modifications and ensured seamless mounting of the new display onto the upgraded steel frame.
The pitch-perimeter system was based on Absen A99 10 mm LED, creating a 187-metre continuous digital ribbon around the field for live content, club messaging and commercial partners. EcoVista’s UK engineering team led all onsite works, wiring and commissioning, supported by local labour under EcoVista supervision.
Close collaboration with Stadium Structures ensured that steelwork, installation and electrical integration progressed smoothly despite weather-related disruptions and the compressed programme.
The
result
The upgraded LED platform has significantly enhanced the match-day experience at Fort Lauderdale United FC’s stadium. The retrofitted video scoreboard provides a bold visual focal point for supporters, while the full-video perimeter delivers a cohesive digital environment that elevates both presentation and commercial value.
Delivered on a tight programme and integrated into an existing structural frame, the project showcases EcoVista’s engineering precision, adaptability and expertise in executing complex LED installations across diverse stadium conditions.
